Root Canals

In most cases, cavities can be treated with a dental filling. However, if this treatment is not done promptly, the decay can continue to wear away your tooth and reach the sensitive inner pulp. This can cause significant discomfort for the patient and may require a root canal treatment.

If you are experiencing symptoms such as sensitivity to the area, swelling, or discoloration, this could be a sign that the decay is more severe. The damaged pulp will need to be removed during a root canal treatment to restore the area. After the pulp is removed, the space will be thoroughly cleaned, and a strong material will replace it to restore the integrity of your tooth.

After the damaged pulp has been removed and the space has been thoroughly cleaned, your dental structure may be weakened. A crown may be added to further protect and strengthen the tooth.

A root canal treatment could help bring relief to an aching tooth and protect it from further damage.
